At Notley Green we are very passionate about our environment and ensuring that we are acting in an eco-friendly manner.

Green Ambassadors

Each year at Notley Green we elect Green Ambassadors, our very own Eco-Warriors, who help to lead green initiatives throughout the school. Over the year, they will focus on different issues such as the importance of recycling batteries and the need to reduce single use plastic within our school.

Lots of great projects have been completed in the past such as:

  • Gaining a certificate from Colchester Zoo for taking part in 'Clean Air Heroes'.
  • Collecting data on walking to school to try and encourage more environmentally friendly methods of travel.
  • Annual participation in the 'Big Battery Hunt' where each year we recycle hundreds of batteries.
  • We have also looked at: energy saving, litter, and ways to protect wildlife locally and globally.

Projects we would like to work on in the future are:

We are hoping to link up with Braintree Council's 'Green Heart' campaign to reduce the use of single use plastic and to take part in the 'Great Big School Clear up' to help collect litter in the local area.

We also endeavour to achieve the Eco-Schools Green Flag award which is an internationally recognised award for excellence in environmental action and learning. Watch this space to see if we are successful!

If you have any ideas for eco schools, please pass them onto your green ambassador.

Thank you

Our Eco-Schools lead is Mrs Snell
